Our identity in Christ is critical to everything we do. We struggle with anxiety and depression because of our horizontal identification with the world instead of our vertical identity with Christ.

Who I Am

I still remember the day my parents sent me off to attend Western Washington University. I grew up in three hours away so it was the first time I’d really been on my own and responsible for my future. After moving me onto the fourth floor of Mathes hall my dad said, “Luke, remember who you are, and who I raised you to be.”
Contained in that short piece of advice was a command that I should reflect on my identity and what was expected of me as my father’s son. Somehow in that tiny statement was the reminder that people would determine who I was by how I acted. And how I acted merely revealed who I was.
