For the World

Matthew 28:16–20 NKJV
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matt 28
Lets take a journey through the last days of Paul’s life. In Paul is writing to the Church in Rome. He hopes to reach the Church of Rome to Encourage them. However we are going to see that Paul did not write the book of Romans only for the Church there in Rome. This was written with hopes to continue the message of Jesus to Spain and to the ends of the world. From the moment that Jesus saved Paul, Paul would relevantly proclaim Jesus and proclaim His Gospel to the World. The World is our mission field. And we together are as much apart of this amazing movement of God. As Paul was
Three Challenges for continuing that movement.
Stay Broken for the world
Romans 15:25–29 NKJV
25 But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. 26 For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. 27 It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things. 28 Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain. 29 But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
As one who had been saved by the Amazing Grace of Jesus, Paul couldn't bear the thought of people around the world missing this Grace
He was broken for the world and that brokenness compelled him forward
When was the last time you wept for a lost friend?
when is the last time you sacrificed ____________ for you friend who does not know jesus?
When is the last time you took time to really pray for the lost people in your life in your community and throughout the World?
We must be broken for the Lord Just as our Lord was broken for us
in Paul is under arrest but makes a appeal to get to Rome his appeal is granted and he begins his journey. Unfortunately Paul is shipwrecked on his way to Rome . When Paul is wrecked on the island of Malta, God begins to use Paul in Powerful ways this leads us to our 2nd challenge
2. Be relentless for the world
Acts 28:7–9 NKJV
7 In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. 8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed.
This part of Acts and Paul's Journey is a Reminder that we are called to be relentless for the world
Paul had a passion to get the Gospel of Jesus to Spain through Rome, but more importantly Paul had a passion that every person would know Jesus
Paul understood that even being shipwrecked on a lonely island was a mistake but of God’s will for His purpose
Our God is completely Sovereign, and nothing is by chance, Paul understood that his life was not his own and that the entire world needed Jesus. No matter where Paul went he was relentless for Jesus for the World.
When do you serve Jesus?
When the church puts a mission trip together, a community activity? a group event?
When your family tells you to?
A true moment of God happens when the church becomes relentless for the world
when we realize that the Holy spirit has called
all who have Jesus to share Him with this world
There was a young man born in 1792 in Hawaii his name was Henry Obookaih both of his parents and baby brother were killed during a war amongst the tribes William went to live with the village priest his uncle who after a year or so was chased and killed himself. Henry barely escaping death a second time. Henry saw a ship he ran onto the ship and told the captain he would rather be a slave than to stay and be killed
Henry and another Hawaiian boy set sail with the captain over the next two years they traveled the seas together a young christian soldier to Henry under his wing teaching him how to read and write English using the bible as the main literary source. The landed in New hampture there Henry encouraged by the local church began to translate the bible into his native language saying that he one day would return to the islands and burn the wooden idols the false gods made by man for the One god who had made man and to tell all the island about Jesus. He was set to go on the first missionary mission to the islands when he fell ill and died to Typhoid fever. At his service his passion was shared to reach the islands of Hawaii
Isaiah 6:8 NKJV
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
was read. 12 young missionaries 6 being Hawaiians went and by the grace of God from the passion of Henry answering the call Send me the Chain of Islands was Converted to Christianity.
3. Finish Well
Do it for Jesus do it for the Lost that they may see Him in you
Acts
Acts 28:30–31 NKJV
30 Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.
Paul eventually gets to Rome.
In Rome, Paul is allowed to Live by himself with a soldier as a guard will under house arrest
Paul sets up two meetings with religious leaders
These leaders are intrigued and want to hear more. Paul then encourages them to bring more people and he will tell them more.
Paul though a prisoner awaiting his execution sets up a revival in his home.
From morning to evening Paul shares about Jesus and people believe. Paul has such eagerness and passion for what he believes people recognise his sincerity
This movement continues! It continues through You!
We should be thankful for those who are finishing well for the kingdom of God!
We should be thankful for the pastors who have spent their lifetimes sacrificing much only to Preach and tell people about Jesus People Like Dr. Billy Graham who had such a passion for the lost in this world Sharing the love of Jesus to them
Jesus honored Pauls desires in Galations it says “I have been crucified with Christ”
in Philippians it is said “for me , to live is Christ, but to die is gain”
No one can confirm how or when Paul died but historically it is thought that most likely Paul was Beheaded there in Rome
Although Pauls life on earth ended there are two things to know
Paul is not alone- today surrounded by the church in heaven Many people are thanking him for his faithfulness and desire for each of them to know the Lord
For his brokenness for his relentless pursuit to take the Gospel out for the Lost for his ability to finish well!
2. The message that Paul proclaimed is still alive and well today
The reason why we proclaim the gospel of Jesus is because like Paul we are all wretched worthy of eternal suffering but like Paul the faithfulness of God is still alive and has set us free.
Let us pray that you and I will be known for nothing but the Gospel of Jesus, What we did to tell the world. in dedication of our lord and savior Jesus.
Be broken stay relentless and finish well for Christ.
Isaiah 6:8 NKJV
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
