Text: 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

Introduction: My brothers and sister there are times in life when it seems as if the problems, pitfalls, and predicaments that we find ourselves in have away of shutting our mouths and quietening our praise. Times when it seems as if our life is falling apart doesn't seem like a good time to give God praise. But I don’t care how bad things may seem you’ve got to learn how to “Break the Box and Let It Out.”
In the text that I read in your hearing this morning we find a woman whom Luke describes as a sinner heard that Jesus was dinning at the home of Simon the leper. upon hearing where Jesus was she decided to crash the party and pour out her adoration on him. When she arrived at Simons house, she took her most valued possession an alabaster box filled with spikenard, she broke the box and let it out and begin to anoint Jesus
Walk with me around the text and lets see what we can glean from it.
I. Recognition of who Jesus was to her.
The first thing that I want to show you is the reason that she broke the box and let it out was that she recognized who the lord was to her. You will never be able to break your box and let it out until you recognize who the lord is to you. This woman knew she had a past and felt deep down within her soul that she needed forgiveness. Nobody could give her what she so desperately needed and wanted but Jesus. I don’t know about you but I’m so glad that I know who he is to me. One day when i was on my way to hell, and didn’t have a God on my side, I found him to be a savior. No doubt there is somebody here today that recognizes him as a deliverer, for somebody he’s been a way out of no way. Watch this there is somebody who is struggling with being able to break the box and letting it all out because you worried about what folks will say about you. but this woman didn't care what folk thought about her, she gave what she had and offered herself wholly to the lord.
She didn't care what folk thought about her, she gave what she had and offered herself to the lord
II. Reaction to what was done.
Not only is there a recognition of who Jesus was to her that caused this woman to break the box and let it out but then secondly we see The Reaction to what was done. This woman made up her mind to go all out for the lord, she decided to give him the best that she had for the text say that, that this spikenard was very precious. But it was nothing compared to what the lord had done for her. Listen I don’t care how much good you try to do you can expect that somebody’s going to have something to say about it. For those of you hard to please folk you need to understand that there is a difference between helping some one to improve and having a critical spirit. There are some folk that you will never be able to please they will always find something wrong with what you did. So just like this woman you’ve got to learn how to ignore the whispers and negativity of cold, callous, and crooked, criticizing people. When you realize that the lord has done for you what nobody else could do it will make you break the box and let it all out. Then you’ll be able to lift up holy hands and tell him thank you.
III. The Response to worship don’t the right way.
Listen as I get ready to leave you I told you that the only way that we will truly be able to break the box and let out our worship is that we’ve got to recognize who he is to us, then secondly when we truly learn how to worship him in spirit and in truth the these going to be a reaction from those around you. But the last thing that I want to show you is that the text suggest that when we break the box and let it out then worship done the right way will invoke a response from the lord. When you worship in spirit and in truth the lord has a way of shutting the mouth of the enemy. When your worship is real you will get his attention for the bible say that he inhabits the praises of his people.
