Over the past several weeks we have answered some life altering questions.
What’s the point of Christianity?
What’s the point of life?
What’s the point of school?
What’s the point
Tonight we are going to move one step further.
What’s the point of college?
Is it to get a good job?
To make your parents happy?
To get a degree that will make you a lot of money?
To have lots of fun and party?
Because thats what’s expected of you after HS?
Etc...
You should already know what I am going to say.
Of course none of those things are the point of college for a follower of Jesus.
We have to again answer this question in the confines of the point of life.
“To fulfill the great commission by first loving God and loving people as a result of your love for God.”
This is why you are here today and not in heaven with Jesus right now.
Think about it, why would He not just rapture us out after salvation?
Because He want’s to use you to reach the world for Him.
Matthew 22:
God has called you to reach the world for Jesus (AT ALL TIMES)
This is why you are here today and not in heaven with Jesus right now.
Think about it, why would He not just rapture us out after salvation?
Because He want’s to use you to reach the world for Him.
Right, so now we understand that all of lives big questions should be funneled through the lens of Great Commandment & Great Commission.
Before we even consider college we must first ask ourselves a few questions.
Question: What does God want from me in life?
Answer: To be a vessel used to reach the world.
Question:Did you ask the Lord if you are supposed to go to college?
I didn’t ask the Lord if I was supposed to go to college yet I went anyway wasting both time and money in the process.
Question: Do you need to go to college?
Answer: No
You do not need to go to college to reach the world for Jesus.
Question: So why even go?
Answer: To reach people for Jesus.
If that is what He has called you too.
If you want to reach people in a closed country you will have to have a legitimate reason to be there.
If you want to reach children then being a teacher would be the obvious path, you cannot be a teacher without a teaching certificate.
Do you want to reach the least of these for Christ?
Consider being an english teacher and get an ESL degree so that you can teach English in another country.
Have a heart for broken homes, get a degree in social work.
Only go to College if you know God is leading you there.
You do not need a degree to be a missionary.
You do not need a degree to lead worship
to be a youth director
to be a pastor
to make a difference in the world.
Let it be clear, I am not trying to talk you into or out of going to college.
I am simply challenging you to question why you are going in the first place.
Because
TIME IS TOO SHORT TO WASTE
Get slide of 2 minutes
Get slide of 2 minutes
You will never get that time back.
We need to stop wasting it.
You will never get time back.
Ask God for direction in whats after High School.
He want’s you to simply follow Him.
Not have it all figured out.
Matthew 7:
Ask God what He want’s from you after High School.
He will lead you down the proper path.
In conclusion, just follow Jesus.
As you follow Him He will lead you to the future He has for you.
For some of us it will be going into the workforce right out of high school, for others we will go on to college to become doctors to minister through medicine, but in it all, as long as you are following Jesus you will be on the right path.
