“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die. So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”
When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.
The emotional challenges of being used for the Lord
Jesus understands that he cannot just cop out of his calling
His knowledge of the difficulties of his call go beyond ours, he accepts that deliverance from the temporal unacceptable
We must accept that our callings and ministry as believers are connected with a calling to suffer for his name sake.
Some of our suffering is to be embraced as a witness and recipient of God’s grace and mercy and will be used to bring many to Christ.
God doesn’t all ways show us what we are called to suffer for his name’s sake.
Jesus accepted the negative aspect of his calling and didn’t seek to advert it.
Jesus’s suffering on the cross is the ultimate act of selfless purpose for the Glory of God. (Done for his name sake)
Lifting up the Name of Jesus is what draws all men to Christ
What does it mean to lift of the Name of Christ
When his suffering is revealed in us either through the verbal proclamation of the Cross or a life sacrificially lived to the Glory of God
Why do you say Lord Lord and do not what I say
If love me you will obey
Love you show one another
All those who live Godly will suffer persecution
Our suffering as Christians comes as a result of our commitment to Walking in the light.
Walking in the Light makes you sons of the Light which is what happens when you truly lift up the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
When Jesus is Lifted up in your Life he will draw all men to himself.
