1. Tough times may be better than happy occasions. vv. 1-6

Going to a funeral may be better than attending a baby shower or a party.

Understand the Fall

Consider the brevity of life

Ask “How will people remember me?”

Recommit to live for eternity.

Prepare to die.

Crying your eyes out may be better than laughing till it hurts.

Hearing a rebuke may be better than listening to a top song.

2. Tough times challenge our character. vv. 7-10

Unjust gain or Contentment?

Impatience and Pride or Patience and Humility?

Anger or Long-suffering?

Preoccupation with the Past or a Focus on the Present and Future?

3. Tough times prove the importance of wisdom. vv. 7-12

4. Tough times test our faith in God. vv. 13-14
