Genesis 13:14–18 NKJV
And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.” Then Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the Lord.
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.
And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain F72 of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
Good Morning.
Abram and Lot’s herdsmen were arguing. There were arguing because there was not enough land for all their sheep and cattle….
We have to quit arguing with people about how much land we need or have. I want to be over this department. We I am better than she is at doing that. That looks like more fun than what I am doing. Wake UP! The more we argue, get envious, bicker, back bite, or talk about each other, the more land is going to waste and people are dying. Also the easier it is for Satan to come up and build a fence or a gate around us. What do fences and gates do?...
Do we not realize that God has a plan for the whole body?....
So how far can you see? Abram had to separate himself from the things holding him back…
How far can you see? An eagle can see a rabbit from 1760 yds away. A human can see that same rabbit from only 550 yds. But do you know we are not limited by distance in sight. We can see the stars and they are light years away. The nearest star to earth after the sun is Proxima Centauri and it is 4.3 light years away. How long is that you say. Well light can go 186,000 miles per second. So multiply, that times 60 sec. in a minute and 60 min. in an hour….. As long as the object is big enough to cause a neural impulse, we can see it. There is no distance. God told Abram as far as you can see.
A lot of times though, we get in our own way. We are the ones that screw things up because we want the next feel good moment or we submit to our own desires. God is looking at us and saying come one folks. I have so much more for you. Just look too me.
9But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you –
I heard a song the other day by Israel Houghton. He was saying in the song that the disciples only wished they had the internet and jets and television. I thought how true is that? If they only had that those things, what an impact they would have made. I mean look at what they did with the little bit that they had. Look at how God used them. They completely changed the entire world. Then my attitude and thought process changed a bit because I thought we have all of that and we aren’t doing half of what they did.
I thought about the apathy in our lives that we as Christians live in. We don’t really care if our friends die and go to hell. We do not care if our kids read the bible or pray. We don’t care if we read the bible or pray. We just want to do what we do and then go to heaven when we are done. God does not see us like that. In fact he sees us as so much more. We are nothing like our contemporaries. We only want our next thrill and as long as we do not have to stand up for anything and people like us then we are happy. That is why homosexual marriage law is even a consideration. That is why prayer was removed from school. Not because we the world is getting worse but because Christians don’t care. We are set apart. We are to be nothing like the world but when the world looks at us they just see themselves in better clothes and more rules. That is why they do not listen to us because they do not see a difference. God has called us to so much more. We are supposed to be joint heirs with Christ. We are the children of Abraham. Look at this.
And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and now all the promises God gave to him belong to you.
So what does that mean? It means that it is Mine satan and you can’t have it. I’m gonna get it even if I have to come and take it from you. You done lied to me long enough and I ain’t gonna listen anymore. I am not arguing over who has what or what I don’t have. I know that God has promised me everything is mine so that is what I am going to believe. But I have to continue to mature in Christ.
& 7
Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves great wealth for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.
Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. F22 And since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you.
You say well I can’t see because of all the stuff around. How many have ever said that?... Or maybe you said…. That reminds me of another man who couldn’t see because he had a vertical challenge. Zaccheus couldn’t see because of all the people and things around him. So what did he do? He got higher. He changed his perspective. How do we do that? You pray, worship, and crucify yourself.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully
Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up
Not having the right perspective can hurt you.
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
How far can you see?
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Think big, believe big be big. Think small, believe small, and be small.
One more verse
I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power
that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms.
Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else in this world or in the world to come.
And God has put all things under the authority of Christ, and he gave him this authority for the benefit of the church.
And the church is his body; it is filled by Christ, who fills everything everywhere with his presence.
