notice here how God takes away the breath, and the man dies. he makes a distinction between the spirit and the man

the LORD tries the spirits

humans and beasts all have one spirit

spirit of human ascending, returning to God, animal descending to the earth ,

life-giving spirit

7. ( not always distinguished from 6 with certainty): meaning the natural spirit of humanity, as sense, mind, intellectual frame of mind

the following meanings ( a-e) easily merge with one another

a. spirit

the things that come into your mind

foolish prophets…follow their own spirit

NB how God hardened his heart through his spirit. he did not touch his mind, but his spirit. you renew the mind from the spirit.

note the parrallel here garment with spirit, praise with heaviness

Joshua wa full of the spirit of wisdom

NB. notice how this spirit was transferrable by impartation. it is telling us it was a spiritual tangible substance, not merely a mental framework, though it produced this.
