Sermon

2 Corinthians 5:14–17 ESV
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:16–17 ESV
From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Recognize the Supremacy of Christ

Who is Christ?
He is the one that was promised from the beginning of creation and the sin of mankind that would come to die for us.
He would be Adam’s son and not fail to crush the evil Serpent.
He would be one of Abraham sons and bless all nations.
He would be the son of King David and establish his kingdom on the earth. Not only that, but he was the Creator become a creation.
He is the supreme judge over all countries, nations, presidents.
What did he do?
He lived a life that no one could find any error, moral corruption, or inconsistencies. He was utterly sinless in his thoughts, nature, and actions.
Although he deserved immortality, he suffered in our place, died with our sin, cursed with our curse, and was buried in a tomb for three days.
By the power of God and the sinlessness of Jesus’ life, he could not stay dead but beat it.
His righteousness proved his right to receive all power over the entire universe, sitting at enthroned in God’s presence.

Recognize the Earth Shattering Reality of a New Human

A New creation
New Heart
New Purpose for Living
New Vocation
New Relationships
Ezekiel 36:26 ESV
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
In it Paul is setting down the Christian conviction that in the Christ event a new world has been born and a new age has supervened on world history. Phrases like “a new creation,” “reconciliation,” and “righteousness of God” are all virtual synonyms for this new eon, which has radically affected both divine-human and all earthly relationships.1

“When a person becomes a Christian, God totally restructures their life, altering its whole fabric—thinking, feeling, willing, and acting. In this “new creation,” however understood, one set of conditions or relationships has passed out of existence and a new set has come to stay.”
