6 But we’re starving out here, and the only food we have is this manna.”

Exodus 17:8 – While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.

▸ Who are the Amalekites?

Deuteronomy 25:17-18 – 17“You must never forget what the people of Amalek did to you as you came from Egypt.

18Remember that they fought with you and struck down those who were faint and weary and lagging behind, with no respect or fear of God.

3. I must rely on the power that _________________________

Exodus 17:9-13 –9 Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us.

Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did what Moses had commanded . . .

11 As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage.

But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.

12 Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up.

So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on.

Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands.

So his hands held steady until sunset.

13 As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.

Romans 8:31, 34 – 31 What can we say about all this?

If God is on our side, can anyone be against us? . . .

34 Or can anyone condemn them?

Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words.

Learn how to apply them.

You’ll need them throughout your life.

God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.

In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.

Pray hard and long.

Pray for your brothers and sisters.

Keep your eyes open.

Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
