The Church belongs to Jesus
Everything we talk about today is going to be in the light of Christ Church.
we are who we are and we came from where we came from.
that is no excuse to stay where we are.
all Ministry flows from our personal relationship with God.
there is no replacement for personal Prayer and worship.
we need personal time in the word.
How do I do a quite time with God?
there are different was to do a quite time with God.
I’ll take you through my personal process, feel free to find your own or use mine as a starting point.
I always start with worship.
you don’t have to start in any particular order, I’ll give you the reasons that I do what I do but you have to do what works for you.
I start with worship to let the truth of God’s word and the truth of our faith.
I let the worship flow over me.
I use a 5 x 7 card and write down all the thoughts that rush to my mind.
this usually takes two songs to get all the thoughts out of my head.
after i write all the notes down i let another song play.
while that song plays a take some deep breaths.
After I have had time to soak in the truth of worship and acknowledged the things on my mind I go into my bible reading for the day.
I use a bible reading plan from you version.
I might let you version read to me.
Most of the time i want to read it myself.
along with my 5 x 7 card I have a Journal.
I write relevant thoughts from my daily reading in that Journal.
After worship and word, I move to prayer.
For Prayer I use the ACTS Acronym:
A- Stands for Adoration
ad•o•ra•tion \ˌa-də-ˈrā-shən\ noun
15th century: the act of adoring: the state of being adored
Most People say God is Good, we know its true.
We forget to remember that God is good.
when I adore God every day I remember an attribute of God every day i realize how truly great God is.
I think as I think of God on God’s terms, I realize that God can handle my problems.
C- Confession
As Christians we should keep short accounts.
cannot afford to let my life pile up.
its not good for us.
unresolved issues cause bitterness
bitterness in life causes bitterness in ministry.
T-Thanks Giving
This is the time we thank God for the things done in our lives.
we all thank God for the big stuff, getting sober, God healing someone, providing for a need that seems impossible.
sometimes our gratitude get’s stale.
we forget to thank God for the small things.
the fact that we call things “small things” helps us to understand that it’s our faith is small not the God that created the universe.
when we thank God every day we thank God a lot more.
S-Supplication
this is the place where we ask God to intervene in our world.
this is the place that I ask Him to help me with my character defects:
being Judgmental
Gossip
notice here that gossip is listed with murder.
Complaining (Murmuring)
we can also ask God to heal
you can ask God to bless your finances
our work together can only be as good as our individual relationship with God.
an omelet is as good as its eggs.
we have to work on our selves.
we need to bring something to the table.
we are part of bigger than ourselves.
the average person is not.
We need each other, so we need to keep short accounts.
if you have a problem with a leader go to the leader.
if it doesn't work lets do it together.
its OK to be wrong.
when you realize you where wrong later, you have to go make it right.
