I hope you’re looking forward to enjoying rest, spending time with family and friends.

One of the things I love doing with my family is to eat.

What are some food that you really cannot do without?
Tables!
I mean, Vegetables!
Well, roasted vegetables are delicious.
Ice!
I mean Rice!
Coffee.
Do you drink coffee?
Many teachers and parents, enjoy, and need their coffee!
Lakes!
I mean Cakes!
A&W.
It’s coming back to Singapore, don’t have to travel to Malaysia to eat it.
And so much more!

God is good
Boys and girls, this week’s devotion has been teaching us to praise God.
We are to praise God because God is good.
Indeed, says
God is good.
And this morning, I want us to think about how has God shown that he is good.
The psalmist, the song writer of , wants to show us how good God is, so that we will respond with praise and thanksgiving to God.
Listen to what he says in
God gives us food.
The psalmist tells us that God is good because God gives us food.
Not only does God gives us food.
But God gives food to all who look to him.
God gives food.
He sustains all of his creation by giving us all the food that we need.
All the animals that God created are also fed by God.
Jesus says in
Boys and girls.
God is good.
Remember uncle Roy taught in chapel last week, that God is not a bossy, terrible king of king.
No he’s not.
God is a good king.
God did not just create us and leave us to survive.
God is good to all of us.
He provides the food that he knows that we need.
God is good, he gives us food.

God satisfies.
You know boys and guys, sometimes uncle Roy will think about having a particular food.
Sometimes it’s roti prata, or sometimes it’s just chicken rice.
And you have this favourite stall, that sells your favourite chicken rice.
BUt sometimes, you go somewhere else and you eat it, and it just does not taste the same.
And you keep thinking and wishing that you were having your favourite.
Ok, some of you are wondering, uncle Roy, what are you talking about.
But maybe some of your teachers will know.
Your ‘craving’ for chicken rice won’t be satisfied until you have your favourite.
Or perhaps some of you have been away from Singapore for a long time.
You’ve go to a country where they eat more bread than rice.
And all you can think about is coming home to eat your favourite noodles!
And finally, the day comes, it may not be your favourite stall, but it’s noodles!
It’s tastes like home.
Well boys and guys, the psalmist tells us that God satisfies the desires of every living thing.
Enjoying food is such a great gift from our good God isn’t it?
It’s really amazing how good food can taste in your mouth.
I mean God could have probably make humans run on petrol.
Just like cars.
Once you’re empty, you just head down to the canteen, and fill your bottle up with petrol and you’re good to go again.
Thank God, that God didn’t make us that way.
He gave us senses.
God gave us eyes to see the amazing, beautiful food that we eat.
God gives us tongues to taste how delightful the drinks that we enjoy.
God is so good.
He satisfies our desires.
There’s a song that my children learn to sing in nursery whenever they eat in school, that expresses thanks to our good God for food:
Thank you for the world so sweet, dum di dum.
Thank you for the food we eat, yum yum!
Thank you for the birds that sing a ling a ling.
Thank you God for everything!
Amen!
God is good, he gives and satisfies us with food.
This is because he knows all that we need.
Something that we need most of all…
And boys and girls, there’s something that God knows that we need most of all.
And that is God himself.
