Welcome to Spring break!
Game Night last Friday night!
Movie Night next Friday
I’m taking suggestions!
Body
Body
IceBreaker: Would you rather?
Be the whitehouse press secretary (public speaking)? OR fight a mountain lion with your bare hands?
Would you rather lose all your possessions and money? OR lose every picture you’ve ever taken?
Would you rather live alone the rest of your life? OR be surrounded by annoying people?
What have we been learning?
Prayer

What did we recently learn about prayer?
ACTS
Story of when I was a child, the door?
11 And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
After coming to Christ, story of me driving without my eyes open!
What was wrong with that?
9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Some things aren’t meant to be taken literally
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
Youthful boldness in Christ!
It’s just so wonderful I have the God of the universes attention…
Not a genie in a bottle
I prayed for things like this: dating, which college to go to, what I should do for the day
Do you think God will reveal His secret will to you? If so, how?
Do you think God will reveal His secret will to you? If so, how?
Joseph Smith
Modern day mormons say things like, “Testimony”, “Confirmation”, “What I feel God wants me to do”
29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
How do we reconcile that with ?
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
God is secretive, BUT we can know what God’s will is? How do you think this works?
Talk amongst yourselves
Read
What do we learn?
6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good. 7 Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun. 8 So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
Eccl 11:6
v.6, 9
Is God unable to be sovereign in your choices?
Will God’s will to bless you be thwarted by the wrong choices?
Anxiety filled life!
Believe in the God who is sovereign over failure, moral falls, death and sadness
Question: if God knew the people would crucify Jesus, why did He allow it?
Wonderful things always proceed God’s surprises
God is not interested in telling you the specifics of His wonderful plan
29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
He won’t tell you the details of your surprise party
Jesus is not a party-pooper, doesn’t give spoiler alerts!
20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
How do we do this?
Follow the Light of the Word
Trust in the God of the Word
In amoral decisions, choose joyfully
deals with uncertainty
Don’t worry about choosing the wrong college, wrong spouse, wrong cereal in the morning.
Don’t seek God’s secret will for your life
It’s by His Word, not His secret will, that we’ll be guided
Closing
