To Live Is Christ and To Die Is Gain Feb 18, 2018
Have you ever felt trapped? Circumstances, broken relationships, and powerful emotions can make us feel like there is no way out. We need something to help us face our problems with God-centered courage.
We are not alone in the experience of being trapped. In today’s text we find the Apostle Paul literally trapped. He is in jail, not for a moral crime, but for being a Christian. He gives us an amazing example of turning a difficulty into an opportunity. But he shows us that this ability doesn’t come from mere willpower, but from the Lord Jesus Himself, as our lives our built upon Him.
How does a life centered on Jesus change the way we live?
1. Look for opportunities (1.12-17)
2. Make the Choice to rejoice (1.18)
3. Make faithfulness, not Survival, Your Goal (1.19-20)
4. Remember Your Purpose (1.21-26)
If God has already met our needs in Jesus Christ, we have every reason to rejoice in the Lord. The decision to rejoice in the Lord helps us face our problems with God-centered courage.
