2 Samuel 15:1–6 ESV
1 After this Absalom got himself a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him. 2 And Absalom used to rise early and stand beside the way of the gate. And when any man had a dispute to come before the king for judgment, Absalom would call to him and say, “From what city are you?” And when he said, “Your servant is of such and such a tribe in Israel,” 3 Absalom would say to him, “See, your claims are good and right, but there is no man designated by the king to hear you.” 4 Then Absalom would say, “Oh that I were judge in the land! Then every man with a dispute or cause might come to me, and I would give him justice.” 5 And whenever a man came near to pay homage to him, he would put out his hand and take hold of him and kiss him. 6 Thus Absalom did to all of Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
2 Samuel 15:13–17 ESV
13 And a messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel have gone after Absalom.” 14 Then David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee, or else there will be no escape for us from Absalom. Go quickly, lest he overtake us quickly and bring down ruin on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword.” 15 And the king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king decides.” 16 So the king went out, and all his household after him. And the king left ten concubines to keep the house. 17 And the king went out, and all the people after him. And they halted at the last house.

Psalm 3:1–8 ESV
1 O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; 2 many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah 3 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4 I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah 5 I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. 7 Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. 8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Selah
psalm 3
v1- foes are a lot, more than a lot, and they keep becoming more
v2- and then as more are coming they are saying God will not save him
is that you right now? does it seem like there things going on around you that you need help with
are there whispers in your mind that God will not save you, maybe not even whispers, real people telling you
are they against what God himself has said who he is? not true
david answers it this way
v3 - shield about me, war term, metaphor, on the battle field, your fighting, but its not just you fighting there is a shield that is moving around you blocking attacks and catching arrows and protecting you, now instead of that being a shield imagine a person doing that instead, fighting for you, fighting with you,
lifter of my head - authors talk about that when your head is down it is in disgrace
v4 holy hill is zion ps 2:6
Psalm 2:6 ESV
6 “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
v5
right after being answered. he lays down and sleeps, when he speaks, God brings peace and rest, it brings clarity and soundness to our thought and emaotions
after he slept he states that he woke up because it was God who sustained him, and his confidence is in the God who sustained him
v6
and if God sustains me, i will not be afraid of thousands who have set themselves against me 2 sam 18:7 it says 20thou died in the war against david just after this was written
all fo those against me i will not be afraid
v7
arise o lord, ok God come do your thing, save me and whatever else you gotta do to help a brother out, im here there over there lets do this
scnd part strike enemies on the cheek, is a battle term idiom, beat around the bush
proud athiests

describes people who are proud, practical atheists (Ps 10:2, 4, 11) who hate God’s commands, commit sinful deeds, speak lies and slander (Ps 50:16–20), and cheat others (Ps 37:21). They oppose God and his people

after everything i just said i know the battle is the Lords, salvation belongs to God
ylt says of jehovah is this salvation
So remember david wrote this when he was being pursued by his son to kill him and take over his throne and he wrote this
Psalm 3:1–8 ESV
