John 14:16–18 NKJV
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

1. The Holy Spirit was sent that we not be orphans.

John 14:18 NKJV
18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:17–18 NKJV
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
as a culture we are in a full blown Identity Crisis.
when I say culture I do not mean the Church I mean the world the problem is that many people sitting in services while they may be saved, have not grabbed on to the newness that comes from salvation
2 Corinthians 5:12–17 NKJV
12 For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:15–17 NKJV
15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

how do all things become new?

we understand there is a difference between this life in Christ, and the one I lived before.

John 17:15–19 NKJV
15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

If I identify more with where I’ve been then I do with where I am I have an Identity issue.

we all struggle with the flesh. We need to struggle with it. We must understand there is more to life in christ than what we are actively walking in.

Just because we are in the world doesn't mean we are of the world!

John 17:16–17 NKJV
16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

2. God’s word is true.

2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:17 NKJV
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Be Careful what you give your mind to

Philippians 4:8–9 NKJV
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
the scripture says the Holy Spirit will help us remember.
we cannot remember what we do not know.
challenge the flesh. challenge your way of thinking.

3. The Holy Spirit wants to help us.

He wants to help us not be in the world and keep us from evil.
He wants to help us overcome the world.
we wants us to do greater works then he does.
