3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
How shall we Escape?
How shall we Escape?
There are Some Questions to Which there is no Answer
A. There are Some Questions to Which there is no Answer
How deep is the bottomless pit?
How wide is space?
How long is eternity?
How Shall we Escape if we Neglect so Great Salvation?
This is a Question that Prompts Other Questions
What is Salvation?
What is Salvation?
Salvation is deliverance from the penalty of sin
Salvation is deliverance from the penalty of sin
The wages of sin is death (Rom. 6.23)
Once, hell and judgment loomed ahead
Jonathan Edwards: God may cast wicked men into hell at any moment”
their foot shall soon slide
Once, every moment moved you closer to destruction
Now, every heartbeat brings you closer to heaven
Salvation is deliverance from the power of sin
Salvation is deliverance from the power of sin
Once you were a slave to habits and lust
To whom you yield yourselves servants to obey; his servants you are whom you obey
Sin has power over us while we are subject to it.
Jesus said, whoever sins is a slave to sin
Sin, when it conceives brings forth death
Now you are free to conquer in the power of God
Stand fast in the Liberty where Christ has made you free
Salvation is deliverance from the presence of sin
Salvation is deliverance from the presence of sin
Now surrounded with sin’s reality
Man moans about it but chooses it, revels in it, wallows in it
So many people know that sin is harming them, yet continue to wallow in it
As Peter said, “The dog returns to its own vomit”
We all need salvation because all have sinned
What is so Great About Salvation?
What is so Great About Salvation?
The price paid for our salvation was great
Consider Him, who endured such contradiction against Himself
Instead of the blood of bulls and goats each year, offered His own blood, once
The fact that all can be saved is great
Whosoever
The simplicity of the message is great
God has chosen the foolish things...
The changed life is great
If any man is in Christ, He is a new creation
The fellowship of the saved is great
We now have fellowhsip with God, and with one another
The faithfulness of the Savior is great
We can now come boldly to His throne
The fact that this is the one permanent thing in life is great
eternal salvation:
From What do we Escape if we Accept this Great Salvation?
From What do we Escape if we Accept this Great Salvation?
How shall we escape?
There is no escape
Jesus described it as a place from which there is no escape, where the fire is never quenched
where there is never any rest?
Death comes to a man once, after that, the judgement.
The tragedy of life’s neglected opportunities. There are so many
The job you could have taken
The education you could have received
The property you could have purchased
Imagine standing at judgment regretting your neglect
But the man who accepts salvation escapes the following:
The guilt of the past
The fear of the future
Hell
Lake of fire
f. Earth’s most awful war
The judgment of the Great White Throne
Escape the loss of the greatest prize in the universe - Eternity with Jesus.
Conclusion
This “Salvation” is The Great Escape
Escape to Jesus
