We have an annual theme in our office and last year it was DICI.......A year of tightening and improving procedures and systems and developing our people and their roles.

It was a hard year. We drilled down on everything. We didn't want that our staff to be come overwhelmed by it all and we had to be careful to communicate that what we were doing was like road works, necessary but temporary. Nobody likes road works, they hold things up, slow things down and things look messy for a while but without them things start break down

Everyone worked really hard and no one left us........so it was a win!! (actually one left us)

This year we wanted to make sure we capitalized on all the hard work from last year. So this year we have a new theme ........THRIVE

e had to be careful to communicate to our staff that this is only road works and not the norm, it was only temporary for a bigger purpose.

It was a hard year, but really important time in our business, preparing and strengthening our people and systems

and it was exactly that! A year of road works, tightening procedures and systems, developing our people and their roles

This year we have a Theme........THRIVE

and we asked our staff a question

If we can't say that after this day as well as the other leadership stuff we do that it makes your life then we are waisting our time

Life can be hard. There is no silver bullet but we can choose to Thrive

So this year we have a new theme ........THRIVE

If we can highlight the areas we want to thrive in and work on, invest and influence those areas we will Thrive. Is it a guarantee? no, but you can guarantee that if you don’t work on, invest and influence those areas the natural way of things is for them to breakdown

We asked our staff a question......

”Who wants to THRIVE and who wants to just Survive?”

Who wants to THRIVE and who wants to just survive?

The reason we asked this is because, who knows working hard isn't all that it takes to succeed in life,

Many of us work really hard just to survive

Its amazing, no body ever puts their hand up and says, no I just want to survive! So the next question needs to be asked

“Are we willing to do what it takes to THRIVE?"

Just surviving is what we all do in hard times to get by, its like road works, but you don't want to live there.....

No body wants to just Survive, everybody wants to THRIVE, but are we doing what it takes?

Why are we doing this

If I’m honest there have been many times in our time in business and life where Nat and I have worked really hard.....Just to survive

We have all made great achievements, but some times it feels like 2 steps forwards one step back. Life can be this way but it’s not where we should live

The first thing i think we need to do is be honest. Looking over all the areas of our businesses and lives and evaluating

“Where am I thriving and where am i just surviving.... or worse”

Today were going to look at some areas that will help us evaluate where we’re up to and give is try to get a bit of clarity for what’s normal and what we need to adjust

Firstly......

KNOW YOUR SEASON

Thriving is not about being perfect in every area, Its about Thriving in the season your in

A tree in winter has no leaves, but

Thriving is about being healthy in your season. There are seasons where everything is blooming and seasons where there’s not a leaf in sight. A tree with no leaves in winter is still a healthy tree no matter what it looks like. It’s when that same tree still has no leaves in spring and summer that we start to wonder how healthy the tree is.

Thriving, is living out the seasons of your life in a way that protects and prepares you for the next season. Then making the best of what comes

No body is perfect in any area or season, but we can all make the choices necessary to give our selves every chance to ThrivE

Things are not where they used to be but were not where we want to be

We could stand here and say how great this year is going to be, how hard we have worked and now everything is just going to fall into place, but who knows life doesn't work like that

There is a scripture that says that we can have a life above and beyond what you have ever hoped dreamed or imagined

We can't put out head in the sand, but I'm not going to be the cause of the more issues, we're going to plan to THRIVE and plan for success

I heard a great saying a while back

“Hope is not a Strategy”

We cant just hope everything will be OK.....If we want to THRIVE, we have to have a plan and carry it out

One of the biggest obstacles we face is our selves

We believe that you and your families can live that kind of life

We can THRIVE in every season, if we stay focused and positive

Is it a guarantee, no, but I can guarantee if you don’t stay focused and positive you succeed and you wont THRIVE

We could stand here and say how great this year is going to be, how hard we have worked and now everything is just going to fall into place, but who knows life doesn't work like that

Since Christmas my car has had,

1. A cracked windscreen, now since replaced

2. In the same day we, put the wrong fuel put in the car AND

3. Hit a Roo

4. Then, someone or thing smashed the review mirror,

5. Which lead us backing into something and putting a big hole in the rear guard and

6. Finally the other day i found a big dint in the roof.

I had a customer the other day ask what had happened and said that it looked like a bearute taxi!!

We know how it goes with cars....... it gets a dint here and a scratch there and it starts to not look as good as it used to, then it gets a couple more dint's and the kms clock up and the owner starts to feel as though the car is too far gone to worry about it any more.

Think of the most bashed up car you have ever seen on the road.......at one time that car was brand new.

My car has just gone through a bit of life!!!

It starts to lose its value in the eyes of it’s owner....Once that happens the car goes down hill and gets worse and worse.

Its what i do after the damage is done that shows how committed we are to something

QUESTION

What damage has been done in your lives or business?

The hardest thing for us humans is to accept that we still have value when things go wrong , when bad things happen or we stuff things up

But we all do that, no body is perfect and bad things happen in all our lives.....Its what we do after the damage is done that matters

A person looking from the outside might look at my car and think that I don't care for it. But…..

That’s actually the strong hold Religion has on people. the thinking that we have to build up our worth to God so he will accept us

What ever has happened in your business or life, you are worth it

and that's what happens to us in life, but we are worth it. We are worth what it takes to THRIVE

But you have to know that and do what it takes to repair any damage

Head office cant do it, Corporate office cant do it, you have to decide your worth it, then do what it takes to THRIVE

A real mistake In society these days is we are happy just to give the appearance of success and happiness. It's like building houses that look great from the outside that are all empty and unfinished on the inside!

Thriving takes consistent effort, hard work, integrity, diligence and determination. There are no short cuts

We all fail at things and some are better at some things and not so good at others, that's life

Our clients are a gauge on how we're doing in those areas

Complaints arnt always fair but they often expose an area we could work on to thrive!
