Strong Gospel Weak Men Part 1

Chapters 3 and 4
Commendation for ministers- 3:1-4
No need for titles, recommendations, etc. This is not a resume.
The fruit we bear is our recommendation and our resume. You are our resume.
Back to insufficiency- 3:5 “Not that we are sufficient for these things”
This is the secret to effective ministry and Christian living. A Dependence on God.
The Law vs the Spirit- 3:6-13
When Moses received the Law, his face shone. But it began to fade, and so he covered his face. 1. People couldn’t look upon the shine, 2. They couldn’t see it fade.
The law, had a purpose- to frustrate the effort of humanity to reach God.
Tower of Babel
The sacrifice of Caan
Tower of Babel
Joseph’s desire to become great inand of his own
Jacob’s attempt to force God into blessing him
Joseph’s desire to become great in and of his own
All symptoms of this disease- to try to Attain something with God…
The law never could make someone righteous. It’s job was to point to Jesus.
The new Covenant , the Gospel is Jesus. Not a fading sign pointing to, but Jesus Himself.
“If only I was around during those times- when God was glorious”
This new Gospel message is more Glorious!!!
It never fades. No Need to veil your face!
We are being transformed- 3:14-18
The law continues to blind-
When one opens their eyes, the veil is lifted. They see the Glory of Jesus.
Why we don’t see it-
We look at ourselves.
Shame-
We look at others.
Give us a king…
Unbelief-
1 thing has caused us to miss God more than any other-
Unbelief…
