Introduction: Special Moments

Being a new dad (3x)
Utter embarrassment b/c of that pimple on my face
When you realize the bills are due and YOU have to pay them
Being a new dad (3x)
When you realize you can get sunburned on your head (what’s happening?)
Moments are usually the culmination of a process but they are often remembered more (when I got my degree in the mail)
I think that some of the most important moments are in danger of being passed by because we’re moving to fast to notice them
This Easter Season we want to prepare ourselves by looking at a few sacred moments along the path to the cross...

Big Idea: One moment of honest worship will change your life...

Scripture:
Matthew 26:6-
Matthew 26:6–13 NLT
6 Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had previously had leprosy. 7 While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head. 8 The disciples were indignant when they saw this. “What a waste!” they said. 9 “It could have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, replied, “Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing to me? 11 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. 12 She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. 13 I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”
Matthew 26:
Matthew 26:12–13 NLT
She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”
Every time you see Mary, she’s at the feet of Jesus...
Explain

At the Feet of Jesus, Mary....

1. Found her Blessing

Luke 10:38–39 NLT
As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.
Luke 10:
Luke 10:41–42 NLT
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41–42 NLT
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:

2. Surrendered her Burden

Luke 10:
Surrendered her Burden
John 11:32 NLT
When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
John

3. Gave her Best

John 12:3 NLT
Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.
John
So much happening around this moment but She’s the only one who is getting it
1 pound of oil (worth one years’ salary)
Disciples: What a waste! / Thief looking religious /
Worship might look like a WASTE to the complacent/disengaged/cynical
Someone’s commitment will always challenge my complacency
The difference between Passion and Fanatic is…LOVE
A woman’s hair was seen as her glory
She laid down her own glory ()
The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume
The house was filled with the fragrance of her WORSHIP
