Good morning & Welcome to New Hope!

We’re in this series titled One Enemy, based in about putting on the full armor of God. And what we must realize is that we are in a battle for our lives. Better said, we are in a battle for our soul. Because whether we can see it or not, whether we know it or not... there is a spiritual battle going on around us.
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News.
And what we’ve covered so far is that it’s God’s armor, not ours; and we have to put it on; he won’t put it on for us.

Belt of truth; Body armor of righteousness; Shoes of peace; Shield of faith; Helmet of salvation...
Today we wrap up our series with the sword of the Spirit
The Greek word for sword is “machairan” relatively short sword, even a dagger.
The Word of God: Is our offensive weapon against the evil schemes of the devil. In fact, it’s the only offensive weapon we find that Paul suggests for us. But I believe in the context of this verse we see the sword used in a defensive manner.
For the word of God will never fail.
2 Timothy 3:16 NLT
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.
Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

A soldier must have the proper training when it comes to using the sword; likewise, disciples must also have proper training when it comes to growing in their knowledge of the word of God.
The more we know and understand the Word of God, the more useful we will be in doing the will of God and the more effective we will be in standing against the enemy of our souls.
but the sword also must be used upon ourselves to carve out anything within us that isn’t holy, isn’t righteous, isn’t Godly.
