1. The Christian life requires Intentional Effort (vs. 1)

B. Specific direction-pay the most careful attention

C. Constant evaluation- so that we do not drift away (ILL: Snorkeling in Cozumel)

2. The Christian life is held accountable (vs. 2-3a)

A. Pattern of punishment- message from angels…received punishment

B. Anticipation of chastening- How will we escape

(“ignore” is the same Greek word in …they paid no attention to it and went off)

3. The Christian life is divinely connected (vs. 3b-4)

A. Christ declared it

B. We responded to it

C. God confirmed it (Spiritual gifts)
