I have been taking a lot of time to talk about purpose lately… Looking back over the last few messages I have noticed it is mentioned in nearly all of them…
Perhaps God is trying to communicate something to us…
QUESTION- What is God given purpose??? What does God given purpose look like???
DEFINE- Purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
POINT- You can see what purpose looks like when you are fulfilling the reasons (good works) for your existence.
(NLT) — 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
(NLT) — 26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
(NLT) — 26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
KEY- Faith alone saves, but the faith that saves is not alone; it has good works with it.
POINT- When you abandon your purpose (good works God prepared for you) you start looking like zombies…
It becomes contagious, biting at the living in an effort to make them like the dead… Anyone who is walking out their purpose are weird strange and foreign to you…
Its like a virus that consumes you…
(NLT) — 14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?
(NLT) — 14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. 18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” 19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? 21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. 23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. 24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. 25 Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. 26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
(Here comes the zombie) 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, (The kind that have already been prepared for us to do)
it is dead and useless.

Are you suffering from zombie faith??? The faith that moves but is dead, the faith that says I believe but has no good deeds (Purpose)
Symptoms of Zombie Faith…

1. You lost sensitivity (Hurting people don’t hurt you)

(NLT) — 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

2. You are not growing (Little to no fruit)

(NLT) — 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. 18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
(NLT) — 1 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

3. You’re causing destruction (Looking like a demon)

(NLT) — 19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
(NLT) — 19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

4. You lost the ability to reason (What you are doing and what you believe don’t line up)

(NLT) — 21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.

5. Slow Reaction Time (You react very slowly to opportunities God puts before you.)

(NLT) — 25 Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.

Conclusion…

There is a clear cure for zombie faith… Purpose.
KEY- If you have Zombie faith it means that there is already this desire to trust God to honor God inside you, you have the shell, now you need to fill it with life. PURPOSE
Sometimes we overcomplicate purpose we think about careers and colleges we think about it in a future mindset instead of a here and now mindset…
POINT- Purpose is easily defined.
(NLT) — 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
CHALLENGE- Don’t confuse your unknown purpose with your known purpose.
