As we continue our study in Matthew tonight, we will be discussing how to build your life in such a way that no matter what may come against you you will come out standing tall.

Everyone faces storms in their life, moments where we are tested to the very core.

How we react to those storms depend upon how we have constructed our lives and what our lives are founded upon.

during hurricane Katrina, people took refuge in the Super Dome.

If you remember the images from that time most of New Orleans was destroyed or under water but the supper dome stood strong because it was well founded and built to endure.

In our text tonight Jesus tells us how to build a life that will weather all of life's storms,

The first step you need to take is...

You will need to build a sturdy life

The first and foremost step that we must take is to make sure our lives are laid on a solid foundation.

The foundation is Jesus Christ.

If we are not saved none of the other things I will tell you tonight will matter.

we must be founded on Christ!

After securing our foundation, there are steps we can take to make our lives strong.

Hearing the Word of God

The first step to building a solid life is hearing the word.

We do this by several practical steps,

Studding Gods word

The bible is our anchor.

When building a house I can have a solid concrete or rock foundation but if i do not anchor my walls in to it it does me no good.

When the wind blows the house will fall over like a house of cards.

We anchor our lives to the solid foundation of christ through the word of God.

Listening to His Word Preached

Yes listing to your pastors and teachers are important.

Hearing the word of God strengthens our faith.

the word gospel means good news.

doesn’t hearing good news lift you up and make you feel better and strengthen you?

In this day in time all you get from the world is bad news.

Yes, listen to your pastor and teachers it will strengthen your life and relationship with God.

The next step we must take is...

Heading the Word of God

It is one thing to know the word of God, it is quite another to do what it says.

It is one thing to know the word of God, it is quite another to do what it says.

If you were building a house and you read the blueprints but didn’t follow them your house would be all messed up. in the same way if you read and study the bible but do not practice what it says your life will be all messed up.

If you take these steps you will be ready for the storms to come

You will have storms that will test you

Every one will have storms in their lives.

The strong and the weak.

Jesus said

Everyone goes through troubles and trials in this life.

Our reaction to to them should be different than the worlds however.

God will uses the trials in our lives to strengthen our lives.

the building founded upon the rock did not fall.

Even though we will go through storms in our lives we will enjoy the great blessings of God as well.
