Life is Short: How to Make the Most of Life Biblically
;
Introduction:
The message this morning became personal this week as I turned 48 years old on Tuesday. I know some of you are saying I am still young while others are saying I am old. I definitely realize I am not a spring chicken anymore. Several years ago at a young adult retreat, I tried to play basketball with some of the kids. I quickly learned I am not 20 years old anymore. I am slow, out of shape, and I ended up having to have knee surgery because I tore my meniscus. How in the world did I age so quickly? Everyday is a reminder that life is short.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Solomon speaks about the aging process but more importantly the way to make the most of life so that when you stand before your Creator at the end of your life that you will look back and you did not waste it. I read an Article this week of “How to Ruin Your Life in Your Twenties” by the ministry Desiring God.
Do whatever you want
The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
Live outside your means
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Feed an Addiction
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
Run with Fools
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Believe this life is all about you
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Live for immediate gratification
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Avoid Accountability
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
God does not wish that we would ruin our live. God desires that we will be the people that He designed us to be.
The Command That Will Save Your Life, vs. 1a
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth
Remember or to keep in mind for consideration

How do I consider God?
I want you to think about that question as we move along in this message.
a. I want you to think about that question as we move along in this message.
I want you to see the need for this command. In doing so, I believe you will see a great eternal importance in keeping with this command.

Keep His commandments
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
We will be judged before our Creator, vs. 14
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Conclusion:
Making the Most of your life now has an eternal impact. Put Jesus in the center of your life. Fear Him and pursue His principles for your life.
