The Deliverance from Self

Self-righteousness is like a bottomless cup: though you pour and pour, you will never be able to fill it. Why? Because pouring yourself into yourself adds nothing to you. Nothing plus nothing always equals nothing.

Instead, accept God’s righteousness rather than trying to accumulate your own. You will find that the righteousness he offers is real. And that is what fills the cup of sanctification.

Without the power of God released in our lives, when in conflict with sin we are like an infantry soldier in the presence of a tank. We cannot do a thing. But by trust in the power of the living God at work in us, we can say no and make it stick. We can turn and begin to live as God intended us to live.

What Is Salvation?

• Salvation( GK. Soteria) is the preservation from destruction, failure, or evil.

• The Greek word for salvation is soteria, which means “deliverance, preservation, salvation.”

In the Bible, salvation is a deliverance from a state of danger or sickness to a state of wholeness, safety, or prosperity.

salvation involves not only health, safety, and deliverance from physical danger and enemies (; ; ; ; )

but also personal salvation and deliverance from the power of sin and its penalty (; ; ; ; ; ; ; ).

is even stronger, stating that if a person does not have the Spirit, he does not belong to Christ. Therefore, the possession of the Spirit is an identifying factor of the possession of salvation. Further, the Holy Spirit could not be the “seal of salvation” () if He is not received at the moment of salvation. Many scriptures make it abundantly clear that our salvation is secured the moment we receive Christ as Savior.
