This teaching will change the way you handle your adversary.
Story

Where did Satan come from?

Satan was once an angel in heaven. A Worship leader, beautiful and and exalted. (I find it interesting that the God who knows everything, let satan and Judas be a close inner part of the master plan.)
Revelation 12:7–9 ESV
Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Lucifer was next to God in power.
He was a beautiful angel, but pride entered into him, and he thought he could be above God!

He said: “I will ascend into heaven”
“I will exalt my throne”
Satan was once an angel in heaven.
“I will sit on the mount and I will ascend above the heights of the clouds”
“I will be like the most high”
“I will be like the most high”
Isaiah 14:12–15 ESV
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.

Lucifer was next to God in power.
SATAN’S PRIDE—
James 4:7 ESV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Three times Satan tried to tempt Christ. Having failed to sway Jesus by an appeal to merely physical needs and pleasures, the devil tried a subtler approach. Seizing hold of Jesus, whether bodily or only by a suggestion of the mind, he took Him to Jerusalem and placed Him high upon a pinnacle of the Temple’s roof.
“If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
The challenge, as we read it, meant, prove your powers to Yourself lest there be some mistake, prove them to me that I may bow before You, prove them to all those priests and people below that they may accept You at once and save all strife and sorrow. But Jesus had no weakness of doubt so that He needed to assure Himself, had no vanity to desire honor of Satan, and had no will to dazzle men by spectacular display.
He aimed, not to astound and bewilder all, but deeply to convince a few, and show mankind forever by example how to resist satan and how life should be lived.

Sadly many people don’t realize he’s at work against them.

The Devil held a great anniversary, at which his emissaries were convened to report the results of their several recent missions. One said: “I let loose the wild beasts of the desert on a caravan of Christians; and their bones are now bleaching on the sands.”

“Whats the big deal with that ?” said the Devil, “their souls are now in Heaven.”

AnotherAnother sinister demon said: “For ten years, I tried to get a single Christian asleep, and I succeeded, and left him so.” Then the Devil shouted, and and all the demons of hell shouted in approval!

Satan’s disguises, tactics and strategies

He comes as an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14–15 ESV
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

He comes as a roaring lion

1 Peter 5:8 ESV
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Blinds people to the truth—.

He is a liar—. Yet, many people will listen to him and follow Him!

He tries to have Christians think of the past mistakes!

Set snares (traps) before people—.

He is a tempter—. Satan tempts in many different ways.

6.He is a tempter—. Satan tempts in many different ways.

Produces “fake” miracles—. For every real thing God does, Satan has a counterfeit.

Afflicts people—. Satan oppresses, depresses, and even possess people (lives in and controls their lives).

Brings sickness—.

Opposes all Christains—.

He is a hinderer— Satan always hinders God’s work and God’s servants .
ILL: The devil, according to legend, once advertised his tools for sale at public auction. When the prospective buyers assembled, there was one oddly-shaped tool which was labeled “Not for sale.” Asked to explain why this was, the devil answered, “I can spare my other tools, but I cannot spare this one. It is the most useful implement that I have. It is called Discouragement, and with it I can work my way into hearts otherwise inaccessible. When I get this tool into a man’s heart, the way is open to plant anything there I may desire.”

How to defeat Satan

1 Peter 5:8–9 ESV
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
The New Testament writers assumed that most readers were already familiar with spiritual warfare, only occasional exhortations are given to encourage the churches in it. Today we can make no such assumption, so I am going to give you the main principles of spiritual victory and How to resist and to defeat satan.
).
James 4:7 ESV
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” ().
Submit, then resist! You cannot do it on your own. Without this you may experience initial success but will be left frustrated and discouraged! The key is total surrender to the LORD!
