Many youth ministers do all the right things but never really impact anyone for Christ or make any kind of difference in the lives of others.

Without spiritual health you will not make it in ministry. You can do all the right things but you must have a heat that’s tender to toward God and open to HIS leading. You have to be in love with Jesus yourself.

Being connected to God on a daily basis is more important that your youth ministry.

While looking at Externals is good when we evaluate our work, there don’t necessarily determine our spiritual condition.

Externals we often look at are:

Attending Church:

Small Group:

Quiet Time:

The Greatest Thing: Love the Lord with everything in you.

God is more concerned about your being than your doing.

Matthew 22:36–39 NLT

36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” 37 Jesus replied, “ ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

One commandment is greater and the other is second in importance.

God wants us to lead a God focused life and not a ministry focused life. Ministry will flow out our our real and personal and living relationship with the Lord.

The Second Greatest thing: Love others

Faithfulness to the first command results in obedience to the second but not the other way around.
