Look at verse 38
Mark 4:38 KJV 1900
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Mark 4:38 NASB95
38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
The wake Jesus up, “Don’t you care that were are perishing?” Its was like Jesus didn’t know what was going on.
a. Have you ever felt that way? Like Jesus didn’t know what you are going through? I have.
b. Why did they question Jesus? Why do we question Jesus? We will see in VS 40. Lack of faith.
c. The disciples had seen Jesus is action. Elab.
d. But now they were allowing fear to take over. They were afraid of the storm.
e.They had no reason to be afraid. Jesus had given them His word. “Let us pass over unto the other side”
2. We can read the Bible (God’s word). But we have to be our trust in what we read. Faith is taking God at His word. You don’t have to be afraid when Jesus is on broad.
Mark 4:
Mark 4:39 KJV 1900
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mark 4:39 NASB95
39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
When problems rise up in your life, Jesus will rise up.
a. Jesus gets up from His sleep, rebukes the wind and says to the sea, peace to still.
b. Jesus has power over nature. He has power your storm.
c. Jesus brought a claim and peace in the mist of a storm.
Mark 4:40 KJV 1900
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
Mark 4:40 NASB95
40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”
Jesus, in a loving way, asks them. Why were you so fearful? That term means, why were you acting so cowardly?
a. How is it that you have no faith?
b. We get that way. We are fearful at times. Our faith can lack if we don’t put all of our trust in Jesus.
c. But we can have faith in Jesus.

III. Have faith in who Jesus is. VS 41

Mark 4:41 KJV 1900
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Mark 4:41 NASB95
41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
These men had been with Jesus. They had seen the things that he had done. But they still didn’t understand everything about Him. But they knew there was something special.
a. We will never compliantly understand why God does what He does, Or why He allows things to happen.
b. But we can have faith, we can trust that even in the difficult times (storms of life) that He will get us through them.
Look back at VS 35
Look at 5:1
