David

His life
Failures
Census of Israel ()
Joab commander suggested not to.
Verse 8, acknowledged sin, choose one of three punishments. 70,000 died.
Perhaps the sin was about David not relying on God for success but to tax his soldiers to build his army
Fighing sons ()
Amnon fell in love with his half-sister, Tamar. Absolom was unhappy.
Amnon rapped Tamar
David was angry - (verse 21)
Absolom’s soldiers killed Amnon while he was drunk (v28)
David missed a moment to discipline his son!!
Not a sin, but perhaps would’ve helped hold back Absolom’s fury.
Bathsheba
How he changed?
Response with Bathsheba (2 Sam 11-
I have sinned against the Lord
The son Bathsheba bore died (12:8)
When he found out his son died, David worshipped ()
I have sinned against heaven and earth.
David washed, made himself presentable to God.
Psalm 51
God blessed David and Bathsheba with Solomon ()

Simon, she loves me, but you don’t. DEPTH OF REPENTENCE
We all need a Nathan in our lives!!!

Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.

47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?”

50 And Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
