Colossians 4:5–6 NASB95
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
Macon Co. (*refer to chart below)
Region 10 - show map (*refer to chart below)
NC - 11,000,000 → 6.3 Million self profess lost
Incredible week during the school release.. more than 600 students heard the Gospel! 120 people surrendered their lives to Christ! Thank you for your faithfulness to pray and serve. The Gospel was clearly proclaimed… follow up is happening in our community.
Last week we finished with a verse
Colossians 4:5 NASB95
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.
Incredible opportunity that we had this week to share the gospel! 6oo+students heard the Good News!
Exciting!!
We could make a greater impact than this if we embraced God’ call to make disciples, were equipped to share our faith, and were empowered by the Holy Spirit to engage in the mission.
What if we embraced the mission to reach Macon County/Swain County/Franklin/Bryson City with the hope of the Gospel.
Humpty Dumpty Nation. Fallen and Broken...cant get all the pcs together. Trying! but the nation is in decline...God has given us the answer.. REPENT AND BELIEVE IN JESUS.

Team Going back to Burkina Faso in just a couple of weeks - baby food…
We are called to
Our walk and our words = our witness
On a mission trip, easier to share out faith… why we are there…
Our life after following Christ is a mission trip.
Harder in our home, and in our work…
walk and our talk combine in a more real way.
EVERYTHING STARTS AT HOME, GOES TO WORK, and TELLS THE WORLD
IF WE WERE THE ONLY CHRISTIANS IN WESTERN NC, AND WE KNEW GOD PUT US HERE TO REACH THIS AREA WITH THE HOPE OF THE GOSPEL, WHAT WOULD WE DO?
How do we do this.. moments in my life that I have done very well at this and moments I haven’t done very well at this at all.
Colossians 4:5–6 NASB95
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
Magnet Fishing. Key is consistency.
Make the most of time spent with unbelievers.
Consistency of Walk
Consistency of Talk
= opportunity to share what matters most,
Consistency of life + Consistency of speech = opportunities to share what matters most.
New man ought to have new speech…
Colossians 4:6 NASB95
6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
Paul is not simply talking about spiritual conversation. He has told them... your life before those outside the faith is so important. There are those around you that have probably bought into the false teaching of the world, that are desperate to hear the gospel. ALL YOUR SPEECH AROUND THEM IS IMPORTANT.
Speech today… Social Media. Emails. SnapChats. Instagram. Facebook.
Let your posts always be with Grace.
Always be with grace??? What does that mean.
Ephesians 4:29 NASB95
29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Unwholesome word! - SAPROS - corrupt or foul and was used of rotten fruit, vegetables and other spoiled food.
STORY. COFFEE CUP - MOLD, GRANT - SIPPY - chocolate chunk milk! Grilling burgers with liquid smoke from a long time ago…
We are carreful… all the stuff has an expiration date. Speech doesnt have an expiration date… repentance repairs…
Unwholesome language should be as repulsive to us as a rotten apple or a spoiled piece of meat. Off-color jokes, profanity, dirty stories, vulgarity, double entendre, and every other form of corrupt talk should never cross our lips.

Our walk and our words = our witness to a world who’s hope rests in us!

only such a word.
Good for edification - builds up. Even corrective speech with the right heart can build up
According to the need of the moment - just because it is true doesn’t mean we should say it. .
Proverbs 25:11 NASB95
11 Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances.
SO THAT GRACE!
Gift of Sarcasm... natural man - stupid stuff pops in... filter... clay bars and ivory doors...
James 1:19 NASB95
19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
AS THOUGH SEASONED WITH SALT.
Gracious and impactful. Prevents corrupt from others... Adds flavor to the conversation... care about people. INTENTIONAL
Salt preserves and helps the meat keep from going bad. We should be impacting the world around us. Better because we are there.. joy.
so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
1 Peter 3:15 NASB95
15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
Our actions and our speech should cause the world around to say... why???
What if we embraced this as a church. What if we said… it is our job to reach our community!

Our walk and our words = our witness

Our everyday conversation would open doors for gospel conversations and we would be equipped to share the hope in us.
Start by equipping every believer in Cowee Baptist to share their story. This wed Pastor Ron and Randy Brooks will lead us in this effort. This may be your next step.
If we embraced this call to reach our city…
We would do it together.
Paul gives us a picture of a group photo at the end of this chapter… He is grateful for the impact of each these people… MINISTRY IS NOT DONE ALONE.
Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, John Mark, Epaphras, Demas, Luke, Nympha, Achippus… so many working together… better together.
Responsible as individuals.
Two kinds of people. Those who talk about the lost. Those who talk to the lost.
Read a directory... when you should call your pastor. Every person having every day conversations turning to evangelism.
Make a list of people that are far from God and around you and begin to pray.
Every good farmer knows, the harvest is directly related to the amount of seed planted! If 500 people are regularly sharing their story - really is his story... everything changes.
If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. The apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman empire, the great men who built up the middle ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the slave trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with heaven. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this one. C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity
Desire Desperation Discipleship - These are our weapons.
