Thanksgiving for Forgiveness of Sins - Psalm 32
Series Overview: From early centuries, though the duration of Lent varied, the season has been a time of repentance and confession, beginning with the Ash Wednesday reminder that “from dust we came, and to dust we shall return” to the Maundy Thursday “commandment” of our Lord Jesus Christ that we receive forgiveness and love in his name. For this Lenten midweek series, we will focus on the nature of repentance and confession though several “Penitential Psalms,” ones particularly expressive of sorrow for sin. We will also be reminded of repentance—and our joy and rest in the Lord—through familiar stories in the gospels. Sermon Refrain: Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away. You surround me with glad cries of deliverance!
