The Last Hour
We live between two worlds We are in the last hour, the hour leading up to the end.
This time of the last hour started after Jesus’s death and resurrection.
In verse 17 John says the the world is passing away, it is coming to end.
Two different People
This statement on the last hour comes out of the discussion on loving the world and sets up the the discussion of two different groups of people.
Those who Fall into Lies
What we talked about last week.
We all have those area that we drift from the truth.
But we John warns us about here is that there are those amongst us that want to lead us away from God’s will.
In Jesus tells the disciples of how he will be killed but will raise again.
Peter responds by telling Jesus it wont happen.
Jesus’ response is to rebuke Peter and calls him Satan.
They wont last.
Verse 19 says “They went out from us, but they did not belong to us, they would have remained with us.
Those who Stand with Truth
Those who remain have a special anointing - tell us that God has anointed us and put a seal on us that is his spirit.
So then stand on the truth that you have believed.
And the result is Eternal Life as promised.
When the king comes back
