Being Different means:

• The state or relation of being different; dissimilarity
• A significant change in or effect on a situation
• A distinguishing characteristic; distinctive quality & feature

Anointed to make a difference:

• There must be a distinguishing characteristic, or even a distinctive quality and feature, in our life that marks our walk with Jesus, especially in times of adversity.

1. Jesus Went Out to His Disciples (v.25)

A. He comes to us more than we go to Him

• In times of danger and distress, Jesus will see us and will come to our relief.
• Even in the tempest that howls, or on the waves of affliction that beat around us, Jesus will come, and we shall be safe.

B. He knows what is happening

• Nothing takes Him by surprise
• His knowledge is total
• He knows all that there is to know and all that can be known

2. Jesus Immediately Said to Them (v.27)

A. “Take Courage”

Jesus uses the first phrase – “Take Courage”

• In its original language that means “Cheer up”
• Same word used for the paralytic man in Matthew 9:2
• Same word used for the woman with the issue of blood

B. “It is I”

• God’s name found in Exodus 3:14 – “I AM WHO I AM”
• He is the Son of God
• He is Emmanuel – God with us (Matthew 1:23)

C. “Don’t Be Afraid”

• Identical word used to reassure Joseph, son of David and the woman at the empty tomb.
• Identical word used to reassure the twelve as they went for missions and on the Mount of Transfiguration

3. Jesus Reached Out His Hand … and Calmed Everything (vv. 31-32)

A. He will stretch out His mighty Hands

B. He will also calm the storm
