What to do while your waiting?

Humor
#1
A little boy was standing at the end of an escalator. The sales lady asked, “Son are you lost?”
“No ma’am, I’m waiting for my chewing gum to come back.”
#2
Frank wasn't known for his patience, and he had absolutely no use for negative conversation. When he got a call from his wife during a busy day at work, she talked slowly and didn't seem very upbeat. Frank interrupted her and exhorted her to be brief and positive. She paused for a moment and then cheerfully replied, "I discovered the airbags in our new BMW work great!"

After starting a new diet I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning and as I approached, there in the window were a host of chocolates, donuts, and cheesecakes.
I felt this was no accident, so I prayed … “Lord, it’s up to You. If You want me to have any of those delicious goodies, create a parking place for me directly in front of the bakery.”
And sure enough, on the eighth time around the block, there it was!  God is so good!
Today were going to discuss What to do while you are waiting?
I’ve yet to meet someone who likes to wait!
I’ve met many people who actually really dislike waiting?
Especially for trains....but let’s not go there
Disney has discovered that if they can entertain people while they have to wait, it makes the waiting more bearable.
But given the choice, I don’t know anyone who actually likes waiting.
So what are we supposed to do while we wait?
Isaiah 40:31 NASB95
Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah
So there are some major benefits to waiting?
How do we maximize those benefits.
Please remember that the purpose of Life can be summed up in 1 thing

So what better thing can we do when we are waiting than to develop greater intimacy with the God in heaven.
I can guarantee you will find your answer in your pursuit to developing intimacy with God.
That is what God desires above all else. That we know Him and His ways
Throughout the Bible, we have numerous examples of the Lord making Himself known to His creation.
John 1:14 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Our God communicates with His creation.
We see this throughout the Word as the Lord directs His children and communicates with them, displaying His nature as an involved Father who loves, leads, and guides.
The way He initiated interaction with His children in the past is how He works with us now. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Acts 10:34 NASB95
Opening his mouth, Peter said: I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,
John 10:34–35 NASB95
Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? “If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
Acts 10:34–35 NASB95
Opening his mouth, Peter said: I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him.
J
Romans 2:11 NASB95
For there is no partiality with God.
John 3:16 NASB95
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
If God desires intimacy with anyone, He desires intimacy with you.
We need to get over this lie that God only speaks or relates to certain people
He desires to operate through you the way He operates through others
The only difference is they probably sought greater intimacy than you currently have
But that does not mean God does not desire the same for you.
My greatest heart cry is to raise up a people who believe God wants to use them like stories of the past, but even greater.
People that see others doing great things with God, and then asking the question. How do I do that.
and not stopping until they get the answer
So How do we develop intimacy during our wait?

Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; Worship the Lord in holy array. Tremble before Him, all the earth; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” Let the sea roar, and all it contains; Let the field exult, and all that is in it.
