As we’re treated to a sweet bit of 90’s nostalgia on Sunday, we’re reminded how quickly fads and trends come and go. And we’re not just talking about clothing. Even in church life we’re affected by what’s fashionable and what’s not. One minute something is mad fresh and the next minute it’s totally lame – just like the words I’m using now. But it’s a good reminder for us to focus on the constancy of our faith and our Saviour. As the writer of Hebrews says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Where fashion and trends and style are forever shifting, the Lord remains our constant Rock of Ages. Where ‘keeping up with the times’ leaves us feeling exhausted, confused and insecure, trusting in Jesus leaves us feeling confident, clear and peaceful. In summary: Jesus is da bomb!
