The Song of the Vineyard

Isaiah sings a song about the Lord whom he loves. A song about the Lord’s vineyard (Israel)

A vineyard planted on a fruitful hill

Rich soil, good for growing

The Lord’s parable

The Lord did the work in planting it and preparing for a harvest

He dug up the soil and removed the stones (things that impeded growth)

He placed a tower in it to protect

He built a winepress for the expected grapes

His expectations were disappointed

got wild grapes instead of good grapes

The Lord calls Judah and Jerusalem to evaluate His parable

The Lord reveals what He will do in response to the vine producing wild grapes

The Lord interprets the parable

The Six Woes

First woe Greediness ()

Second woe Drunkenness and partying

All day long

Music and disregard God

People being led away captive, honorable men starving, multitude thirsty

The offenders cast into the grave or hell

All humbled

God shall be exalted

Land will be restored Isaiah 5:17

Third woe Those who willfully anger God

Fourth woe Spiritual and moral perversion

Fifth woe Pride in their own wisdom

Sixth woe Drunks and greedy

The Anger of the Lord

Judgment for rejecting the word of God

The continuing judgment of God

He will use other nations
