“Gotta be led by the spirit brother!”

When God spoke to Tarah and I while we were dating...

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
Romans 8:5 NLT

Big Idea: A spirit led life has more to do with being surrendered than being spontaneous.

1. God’s Design

The Holy Spirit wants to led us into the abundant life of Christ
Shalom: relationships/faith/purpose/work/
Empowered for witness

2. The Problem (Page 45)

We often refuse to yield
Whole-Hearted or Hole hearted (pg.46)
Mark 12:30 NLT
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’
Heart : Emotions/Will
Soul: Conscience
Mind: Thoughts/Attitude (connected to feelings)
Strength: Actions

NOT: engine of a Ferrari, brakes of a Porsche, suspension of a BMW and the body of a volvo...
For me It meant and means...
Changing my priorities (Tacoma Wilderness)
It meant being honest with my wife (Sexual Sin)

4. The Results

Manifestations of the Spirit (pg.49)

Thinking Gifts
Action Gifts
Speaking Gifts
There have been times in my life when I have been more conceren

The Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22–23 NLT
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
2 Peter 1:5 NLT
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,
2 Peter 1:5–9 NLT
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
2 Peter 1:5–7 NLT
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
There have been times in my life where I was more concerned about the gifts of the Spirit than His Fruit

Conclusion:

A spirit-led life has more to do with being surrendered than being spontaneous

Am I Whole-Heartedly Surrendered or Hole-heartedly surrendered?
Am I focused on being spontaneous in order to avoid being surrendered?
