We Look to God for Physical as well as Spiritual Blessings

We are to fear, love and trust God above all things.

We are 100% dependent on Him

A Christians life is to look to God for all things, and to have no other god along-side or before Him. We pray for His daily provision because we know He will provide.

Unfortunately, many live a life of worry and wringing of hands. This is a problem because,

Worry Is Evidence of Another “lord” in Our Life (vs 25-30)

Mammon says, “Get more!”

We worry that we will not have enough.

That is so unlike the birds of the air: they work but never worry about accumulating for the future.

It is also pointless; worry cannot prolong our lives a moment.

“Mammon” replaces God, who is already taking care of us.

He has given us life and body, a home and family, which is far more than food or clothing.

He has given us His Son that we might live with Him forever, body and soul.

We are more valuable than the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, therefore should we not trust God for the food, clothing, and our future?

Worry, therefore, is evidence that we do not trust God above all things, and that we have other gods before Him, breaking the First Commandment.

It points to the littleness of our faith.

We are always going to be challenged by the devil to trust in other things, like in what we have accumulated, but as children of God we trust in Him alone.

Our Father Who Art in Heaven is the Lord of our Lives

We live as children of our heavenly Father.

The primary concern with material goods is a pagan trait.

In contrast, we trust our heavenly Father, who provides for all our needs.

We pray, “give us this day our daily bread.

Living one day at a time.

Knowing that God will give us exactly what we need.

Primary of which is His Kingdom and Righteousness.

And Jesus has secure this for us: in His life, death, and resurrection.

Heaven is secure for all who

From the lesser to the greater: God takes care of you.

From the greater to the lesser: God takes care of you. Therefore, all the bases have been covered by God, and nothing us left wanting. So this is why we pray this petition and why worry is not only harmful, but deadly for us. Yet you can pray this petition confidently knowing that God will take care us you.
