Introduction:

Expository Outlines from Luke 15. The Transfiguration (Luke 9:28–56)

As Peter, James, and John were with Jesus, they saw Him transfigured. One who prays will see his own life changed by the power of God. Also, He will prepare us for the tasks we must fulfill. Without prayer, we are useless and helpless.

I. CHANGE—vv. 28–36

1. Seeking—v. 28. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John to the mountain to pray.

2. Supernatural—vv. 29–31. As He prays, He is transfigured. Moses and Elijah appear: Moses—law; Elijah—prophets.

3. Sleeping—v. 32. The disciples, asleep, now awaken!

4. Selfishness—v. 33. Peter wants to stay there. God gives us His blessings to share with others!

5. Satisfaction—vv. 34–35. God is pleased with His Son.

6. Secret—v. 36. This is all to be kept a secret.

“I think that the greatest gift God ever gave man is not the gift of sight but the gift of vision. Sight is a function of the eyes, but vision is a function of the heart.” Myles Munroe

Seeing is believing

saying
Said to mean that if you see something yourself, you will believe it to exist or be true, despite the fact that it is extremely unusual or unexpected:
PRAYER—is converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal. It is a “beseeching the Lord” (); “pouring out the soul before the Lord” (); “praying and crying to heaven” (); “seeking unto God and making supplication” (); “drawing near to God” (); “bowing the knees” ().
Prayer presupposes a belief in the personality of God, his ability and willingness to hold intercourse with us, his personal control of all things and of all his creatures and all their actions.
In our text today, The Lord Jesus takes the core group of leaders, Peter, James and John on a high mountain ( Which we believe to be Mount Hermon) to pray......evangelists (; ; ). The fullest account is given by Luke, who, no doubt, was informed by Peter, who was present on the occasion.
In the Matthew , and Mark accounts, he mention 6 days, but in the Lukean account, it mentions about 8 days. The key word is about.

When you had a rough week like the disciples had, you need some Hope. Sometime in life, some lessons are hard. Your not sure if you can make it through a situation, whether financial, social, economical, or all the above. Quiet as it kept, many of us barely know what day it is because in life there are difficult weeks in following Jesus. Like Peter, we can only guess what day it is when you hear the Father reveal the name of His Son into your spirit, then get called a devil a few verses down the page. How many of you feel like Peter today? You do not know your head from your tail, coming or going…We need a word from the Lord! We need for something to change! We need to see change. We cannot add one plus one when you get beat up all weak long , but the Lord Jesus knows what we need. He taking His core leadership team on a High Mountain to pray.
The prayer meeting shifts from Seeing is Believing to I can’t believe what I’m Seeing...

When saints begin to pray, we begin to travel the highway of faith. Yes the bible does not define faith, but describes faith! Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen, but when you are in a prayer meeting with Jesus, Heaven comes to earth. In the promise was given; Jesus is the embodiment of the Kingdom because He is the King…but on this mountain that practiced paganism to the God of Pan, Jesus conducted a hostile takeover,( and Changed the Mountain) and the Kingdom came just as he said it would in v27. While praying, the countenance and the clothes of Jesus Changed. This is what the Glorified Christ look like....
(KJV) 13  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15  And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16  And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

I've fallen, and I can't get up!" is a famous catchphrase of the late 1980s and early 1990s popular culture based upon a line from a United States-based television commercial. Though this situation can be serious, this common phrase became a catchphrase to mean a lot of other things. Steve Urkel from the the Hit 90 sitcom Family Ties would say the catchphrase often emblematic of his clumsiness and lack of rationale in dealing with everyday life....When you see the Lord
