Hope In A Hopeless Situation: The Lord Is

Recap story of Elijah, Ahab and the Widow woman
Recap the story of Elijah and Ahab
Elijah told Ahab that there would be a drought in the land
God spoke to Elijah and go hide by the brook of Cherith
The Lord sent ravens to feed him (bread & meat) twice a day and the brook gave him water to drink
The brook dried up because of the drought
Some times we feel like we didn’t hear God because He instructed us to do something, but instead of easiness we encounter struggle. But God didn’t lead you there to get comfortable. He led you to their to stretch you.
Ravens fed him twice a day. He had no idea when the birds were coming or if they would come back. It took faith, knowing that God would not leave him alone.
God told him to go to Zarephath and that he commanded a widow to provide for him.
But when Elijah saw the woman, she didn’t recognize him. And when he asked for food, she didn’t immediately say yes…she said she she only had enough for her and her son.
If Elijah would have allowed fear to kick in…if he would have doubted at that moment what God told him, he would have missed out on his need being met.
You may feel like you are in a low place right now. You are doubtful that God is with you or hears you, but David said “As I walk through the valley of Death, I will fear no evil for though art with me”. Even now, God is here. And if you listen and are obedient, he will meet you every need.
Elijah told the widow that if she was obedient and made him a small loaf of bread first, her flour and oil would not run out as long as there was a drought in the land.
The woman obeyed, and she and her son ate many days.
God has more in store for you than what you see. Sometimes it’s easy to be distracted by what the eyes see and the ears hear. But you have to press past the natural senses and take that step of faith. The Lord is and will be whatever you need him to be. You just have to trust Him. Your situation may look impossible. It may look bleak…but have hope. Because God’s got your back.
says that he will prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies…have hope. Because the Lord is everything that you need to overcome this obstacle.
