Intro:
Talk about Jesus is
Talk about Palm Sunday
However you view anything influences what you believe about that person. How you view Jesus impacts your relationship with him.
Boudreaux Joke - never had 1 argument in 50 years. How you do that? Thats 1… Thats 2… Shot the horse on 3. Boudreaux… what were you thinking… Marie… Boudreaux, that’s 1.
This is not far from how too many people view God.
Best Friend, Teacher, Miracle Worker, Pastor...
1 Corinthians 2:1–2 The Message
1 You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. 2 I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified.
We don’t try to impress you here. I try to de-church my language as mush as possible.
Today is Palm Sunday, the day Jesus came into Jerusalem and begins the countdown to Jesus sacrifice on the cross.

Jesus is the Lamb

John 1:29 NLT
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
We want to talk about what John called Jesus… the Lamb. Why is this the best description.
Described as the Lamb 104 times in scripture. most in first 5 books of the Bible. 25% of this phrase used in Revelation.
Revelation most describes Jesus as the Lamb than any other title.
What does all of this mean? There are some concepts that are important here.
Description of Moses and Egypt. Plagues… First =born of every one would die… Israel painted door post with the blood of a perfect lamb. This was the Passover. Easter and Pass Over are at the same time. Passover is celebrated to honor God for setting Jews free… We celebrate Easter to remind us that Jesus set up free.
9 am passover and 9 am Jesus was nailed to the cross. 3 pm the Lamb was put into the oven and Jesus was put into the grave.
1 Corinthians 5:7 NLT
7 Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.
Let’s look at three things about the Passover Lamb.

The Lamb was perfect.

Exodus 12:5 NLT
5 The animal you select must be a one-year-old male, either a sheep or a goat, with no defects.
The Lamb had to be perfect. These animals had to be inspected.
Jesus came into Jerusalem and was Inspected.
Jesus cleared the temple because of the corrupt priests in the Temple. They would sell Lambs to people who had perfect Lambs… It was extortion.
Why was it important for the Lamb to be perfect? You can’t atone for someone’s sins if your sins need to be atoned for themselves. The imperfect can only be redeemed by the perfect.
Some people believe that heaven is not a place for perfect people… it is. Some believe that the KOG is a 51% kingdom… their good outweighs their bad. I need to have just enough good to outweigh the bad. What would the number hat gets you in be? 1 Hitler - 100 Jesus. Say you are an 80, is it good enough? NO
Jesus is the only one who was perfect...
1 Peter 1:18–19 NLT
18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

The Lamb was sacrificed.

Exodus 12:6 NLT
6 “Take special care of this chosen animal until the evening of the fourteenth day of this first month. Then the whole assembly of the community of Israel must slaughter their lamb or young goat at twilight.
Isa said that he was beaten beyond recognition. Jesus was beaten so bad that you could recognize him.
Passion - describe the whipping and trauma. The spear was thrust into his side and blood and water came out.
Jesus died from a broken heart because of our sin.
Jesus the Lamb was slaughtered for you and for me.
Exodus 29:38–39 NLT
38 “These are the sacrifices you are to offer regularly on the altar. Each day, offer two lambs that are a year old, 39 one in the morning and the other in the evening.
They had to do this every day. Twice per day they had sacrifice a Lamb for their sins. Some Christians are still doing that… trying to appease God. You better not die with unconfessed sin… Good News - Your Lamb does not need to be sacrificed twice each day.
Hebrews 10:10–11 NLT
10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. 11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.
Jesus sacrifice was so awesome that it takes care of all the sin committed by you forever. You have been made holy… you are not holy, but he made you holy. He was sacrificed for you.
1 Corinthians 5:7 NLT
7 Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.

The Lamb was shared.

They would cook the Lamb and have a feast. There could not be any leftovers so they had a rule that since the Lamb had to be consumed, the people had to share the Lamb. They had to invite others to come help them eat the Lamb.
Exodus 12:4 NLT
4 If a family is too small to eat a whole animal, let them share with another family in the neighborhood. Divide the animal according to the size of each family and how much they can eat.
IOW, our church is too small. Every church is too small because as long as there is one person who has not had a chance to eat the Lamb, we are too small. Jesus died for everyone. He didn’t just die for you and me, but for everyone.
If you have already experienced the benefits of the Lamb, your responsibility is to invite people to come share the Lamb with you.Thats our assignment.
2 Corinthians 5:19 NLT
19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
Jesus - I need you to tell others that there is some lamb left over.
We have an amazing opportunity. People will come. People will come when invited Easter more so than any other time. We need to invite people to the feast.
Talk about Easter plans and series.

Our Opportunity

here is what I want you to do.

1. Pray.

Carve out some extra time and pray for people’s lives to be changed in this place next week. Pray that the barriers will be removed.
2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
I need you to join me in praying for the blinders to come off. Take authority over the god of this age that is blinding people’s eyes and rebuke him in hte mighty name of Jesus.

2. Invite.

Everyone - invite someone to join you at your service… the one you attend. When they meet the Lord, you can get excited.
Romans 10:13–14 The Living Bible
13 Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. 14 But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
We will have communion in each service. It’s going to be good.
Annual spiritual survey - A I am already a Christian. B - I want to become a Christian. C - I’m thinking about it. D - I am not interested.

3. Participate.

Revelation 5:12 NLT
12 And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”
They sang - if we are going to give Jesus the kind of praise he deserves… what he is worth. Worthy is the Lamb...
Next week, bring it. Come get your praise on. Have a good time in worship. It will be infectious and others will get excited.
Next week, if there is a visitor looking around, they are your visitor.
Heads Bowed and Eyes closed.
Some of you need to make the decision today to accept the sacrifice… you are living in condemnation not conviction. Some of you need to come home to Jesus… others need to come back home.
He gave his life… all you need to do is to give him yours.
