Jesus slept because:

  • He was tired and exhausted
  • He wanted to test the disciple’s faith in Him
  • He could handle any and every adverse situation

Nothing happened without a purpose.

What lessons can we learn from this story?

1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Pro. 3:5a)

  • In any and every situation
  • Even in hopeless situation
  • Even when nothing seems to move or change

2. Lean not on your own understanding (Pro. 3:5b)

  • Stop worrying and fussing
  • Stop trying to understand and solve a hopeless situation yourself
    • It will only make matter worse and cause more frustration and unhappiness
    • Note: Not advocating laziness and inaction.

What must we do then in such a situation?

Respond in faith and not in fear.

3. In all your ways acknowledge Him (Pro. 3:6a)

  • Pray to the Lord – if you really know who He is
  • Wait on the Lord

Psalm 46:10

4. And He will make your path straight/direct your path (Pro. 3:6b)

  • He will take care of the situation
    • “Peace. Be still.”
  • He will walk with you and guide you through the storm – Psa. 23:4
  • He will never leave you nor forsake or abandon you - Deut. 31:6

Memorize Proverbs 3:5-6 and Obey it.

Jesus Can Calm the Storms of your Life.

But Who is this Jesus to you?

Who is He and what can He do?

How you answer this question will determine:

1. How you will live your life in Him

  • Is He worthy of your life and all? Is He truly the Lord and Captain of your life?

If YES, you will surrender your life and your all to Him. You will live in total submission to His Lordship and in total obedience to His will and bidding.

2. How you will look at life and its circumstances

  • Is He really in control of your life?

If YES, you will accept that all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28) and you will not murmur and complain, doubt and worry.

3. How you will trust in Him

  • Is He trustworthy and dependable?

If Yes, you will believe that:

    • He can do exceedingly abundantly more than what you can ask, think or imagine (Eph.3:20)
    • He has power to do what He had promised in His Word
    • He loves you, cares for you and wants to help you
