Why should I? What’s the point? What for? Why bother? These are all questions in search of purpose. In fact, one of the most important words in our language is the word ’why’, which is completely about purpose. Why are we here? Why do we exist? Why do we do what we do? It’s amazing how often we ignore such questions. We can go years, maybe even a lifetime, without thinking about our purpose. But purpose is crucial. There’s no meaning to life without it. And when we ask the question of our own lives, we find that we’re always operating with purpose, whether we recognise it or not. Why? Because our design is what gives us purpose. In fact, there is no purpose without design. The two are inseparable. And the Bible tells us that we are made in the likeness of the Designer for a particular purpose, which we’ll explore on Sunday afternoon.
