INTRO:
Unleashed weekend
Weekend to unleash the Gospel
Weekend to unleash our excuses
Weekend to unleash our doubts
Weekend to unleash our faith
Theme verse:
“…Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is before us.”

Our Choices Have Consequences

Newton’s 3rd law of motion - “For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction
Not only applied to physics but to our personal lives
Our choices have consequences
The choice to study
The choice of listening to your parents
The choice of what you do in your relationships
Everything has a consequence whether good or bad
Often we think if something is in private and no one is hurt everything is good
Galatians 6:7–8 ESV
7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Nothing escapes God
He sees it all and knows every thought
Consequences of our choice are justly given by God
earn what we get, can’t blame anyone else
Consequences bring a response to God
Repentance - Bad choices
Worship - Good choices
All choices have consequences, one has an eternal choice
The GOSPEL!

The Gospel Demands a Response

You cannot hear the Gospel and be impartial to it
Rejection or submission
I’ve never heard the Gospel....you will now
What is the Gospel?
You have rebelled and sinned against God
Cost for that rebellion is death
Jesus came in your place, fully obedient to God, and died on the cross absorbing God’s wrath against sin, for you
Raised to life conquering sin and death
your response, confess with your mouth and believe in your heart Jesus is Lord, you shall be saved
Rejection’s consequence:
John 12:48 ESV
48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
Face Judgement - actions have an equal or opposite reaction
Submission’s consequence:
John 5:24 ESV
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 5:24
Faith in Jesus Christ saves us from the wrath of God
We are made into a new creation
From that...

The Gospel Affects the Rest of Our Choices

New life brings a new way of thinking, our decisions change - no longer for self but for the glory of God
Colossians 3:1
Colossians 3:1–3 ESV
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Gospel comes in:
no longer concerned with my desires
how do I live for God
Gratitude poured out for the mercy of God
I want to run everything by God
We set our minds on the things above
What are we unleashing?
Unleashing the thought that our choices don’t matter
