“He beheld the city”

So much in the world is superficial.

A beautiful Jerusalem, the breathtaking view.

The excitement and ceremony of the occasion.

But Jesus sees beyond this outward beauty.

What he sees makes him weep.

Is He grieved at what he sees in your life?

He sees beyond the outward in a church, “I know thy works” ().

He sees beyond the outward in our life.

The front we put on to hide sin.

The smile that hides our inward tears.

What are you hiding from God that he already sees?

He Cares About Our Pain.

“… and wept over it”

Was not His primary concern over their sin?

Yes!

But sin brings pain!!

From the first sin in the Garden of Eden.

Every act of disobedience brings pain.

All sin has negative consequences.

Do you think your getting away with your sin?

You cannot sin and win.

The books we are reading, the lust we tolerate.

The words we say, the stories we tell, the lies.

All these bring pain.

He Knows Our Full Potential.

“If thou hadst known…”

What Jerusalem might have been.

The city of blessing.

Instead it has become a city of war and grief.

Jesus knows your full potential.

The saddest words of tongue or pen: “it might have been”

He knows what you can achieve: Don’t him
