Claim - People find it hard to believe that Jesus has risen, but there is enough evidence and prophesy to confirm it!
Focus - Jesus really is Risen, he promised he would and the responce if joyful retelling of his resurection
Function - To be excited by the truth (believing the promises and facts) of Jesus’s resurection that we want to shout about it.

Really - He is Risen - Hallelujah

Magic BOX - Apple
You think the apple is still in here don’t you.
Impossible for the apple to disappear.
Well, I promise, that before the end of this talk the apple will disappear!
We’ll come back to this..
The women in our bible reading also went to look somewhere and expected to find something.
Why did the women have spices - I think they were making a curry!
CURRY - SPICES
No they REALLY thought Jesus was dead.
Retell - He is Risen?
They had a tradition to go and put spices on the body to stop it smelling!
Bit like deodorant
DEODRANT
They wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of getting all this sorted if they didn’t think he’d be there, buried in the tomb!
Apple in the Magic box - but leave in the box!
Apple is still there - you see, you can’t make things dissapear really!
Jesus should have been there - but he wasn’t.
They REALLY thought Jesus was going to be there, dead!
But He REALLY wasnt.
REALLY - HE IS RISEN!
Yes it’s unvelieveable!
The women going to the tomb couldn’t even comprehend that he wouldn’t be there!
But he wasn’t.
And as we’re about to find out, they and the disciples shouldn’t have been as surprised as they were!

Remember - He is risen - Hallelujah

Luke 24:4–5 NIV - Anglicised
While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
luk 24 4-
What do they mean living?
They weren’t looking for the living, they were looking fo the dead!
That’s why they were looking in the tomb!
If I was to ask you where the apple was you’d say what?
In the box!
Exactly - that’s the place to look.
But the angels are saying, but Jesus isn’t dead.
It’s as impossible as saying the apple is now a bananna!
Hold up a banana
Listen to what the angels said:
Luke 24:6–8 NIV - Anglicised
He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.
6
Remember - He told you this would happen!
He promised he would die at the hands of sinful men - but he would rise, to defeat death.
To make a way back to God the Father for all those who trust in Jesus.
Jesus promised lots of things,
He promised He would die to take away our sin.
The things we have done to show we don’t love God and each other perfectly.
So that whoever believes in Jesus, will not die but have eternal life with him!
You can read about it all in the gospel, Matthew, Mark Luke and John.
And he promised that he would rise again, so that we could know that his pormises were good, that deathw as defeated, and that he was who he said he was!
What did I promise about the apple in the box at the beginning?
It would dissapear.
Shall we see...
Big reveal - apple is still there.
If my promises don’t come true, then you would be right not to trust me.
Jesus’s promises were far more unbelievebale than mine about an apple!
So the question is, did his pormise come true!
Did the BIG one - the most unbelivbale promise he made about rising from the dead come true!?
Well, the historical and biblcial evidence is overwhelmingly convincing.
Adults - kids - read the gospels and decide for yourself.
If the tomb really was empty, If Jesus really did predict his ressurection, and it really did happen!
Well, that changes everything!
Even the disciples as we see in v12 couldn’t quite believe it at first!
Luke 24:12 NIV - Anglicised
Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
But they then met Jesus in person.
And it changed them forever.
They even died for what they believed!
Only someone who was utterly convinced of his resurection would do that!
Rememeber - He is Risen!
And for all of us who are overjoyed,
His promise has come true - trust him, all of our faith relies on this glorious truth, or if it’s true, everything is. If this happened, then we need not worry about other details - He is RISEN!
excited,
singing hallelujah, that Jesus has risen,
well there is one thing left to do:
Luke 24:9 NIV - Anglicised
When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.

Retell - He is Risen - Hallelujah

Tell everyone - even if they don’t believe at first like the disciples.
He is King - he is risen, he’s come to save sinners! Hallelujah!
He REALLY did RISE.
REMEMBER he promised it - He’s trustworthy - it changes EVERYTHING!
SO RETELL - HE IS RISEN - Hallelujah
