Cup of Tea
Leslie Weather head preached for years in London. He told the story of a young nurse at City Hospital who had just started when she was assigned a terminally ill man. Unnerved and frightened, she turned to an older physician. “Doctor, when this man dies, what do I say to his wife?” The old doctor replied, “Don’t say anything; just make her a cup of tea.”
Then pastor Weatherhead would explain, “If wine poured out at the communion table is the uttermost symbol of God’s love for people, then that tea was sacred, too, poured out by a minister of God in a nurse’s uniform.”
Keep in mind this warm reminder: The immense power of love in the smallest act reveals the high calling of our daily work.
