Intro: Fully God and Fully man is the Messiah. He triumphantly enters Jerusalem as we celebrate today on Palm Sunday.
Matthew 21:8–10 NLT
8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise God in highest heaven!” 10 The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
So on this Palm Sunday we too will exalt Jesus and celebrate the coming of the Messiah. Let us celebrate Jesus for who he is. Jesus is Lord and we shall rejoice
Who is Jesus?

In His presence we will be filled with glory.

Isaiah 9:1
Isaiah 9:1 NLT
1 Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.

God will turn our mourning into joy!

Psalm 34:8 NLT
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
God is preparing their salvation.
God sees the hardship of Israel and tells them of their upcoming salvation.

God calls to live with hope in anticipation of the coming Messiah!

Isaiah 9:2 NLT
2  The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

God calls us from darkness to light.

1 Peter 2:9 NLT
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Jesus is the Light and calls us to live in his presence.
The light of the World will shine on us!
Jesus is the light of the world.

Joy and Glory in his presence.

Isaiah 9:3 NLT
3 You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder.
Salvation brings joy.
Going from death to life is time to celebrate.
God will bless us with fruit in our life.
Fruit comes after the time of lack.
We have to wait for the harvest but rejoices when it comes.

Joy in Liberation

Isaiah 9:4 NLT
4 For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.
Jesus frees us from the captivity of sin.
Jesus will break the yoke of slavery!
He will lift the heavy burden from their shoulders.
Jesus will allow us to know Liberty of the spirit.
Matthew 11:30 NLT
30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

The Messiah gives us liberty over all our enemies.

Isaiah 9:5 NLT
5 The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire.
The enemy will be defeated and removed.
WBC - [Verse 5] portrays the end of holy war against the enemy when all the booty, including the war boots and military uniforms, had to be burned.
The second portrays the end of holy war against the enemy when all the booty, including the war boots and military uniforms, had to be burned.
God will remove his enemies in the end.
The enemies of God will know fire and judgement.
Revelation 21:14–15 NLT

Revelation 20:14–15 NLT
14 Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. 15 And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

The coming of the Lord is to set the captives free.
Who the son sets free is free indeed. ()

Jesus will make us free because he is the Messiah!
