Joseph As A Slave

Time To Develop and Mature ()
Genesis 39:1–2 KJV 1900
And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
Develop character -
Joseph was a cocky little guy.
Learned to be faithful when he didn’t see natural results - (Potiphar house)
Grow Spiritually
Psalm 34:18 KJV 1900
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Opportunity is often disguised as difficulty.
There was promotion for Joseph each time he passed the test.
Humility in good times.
Do things as an act of worship -
Potiphar, prison guard, and Pharoah.

Joseph As An Overseer

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
Genesis 39:5 KJV 1900
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
Joseph learned to use authority well

Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
Joseph made a mistake that set him back 2 years in jail. He started to promote himself again.

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
Genesis 50:
God has an Expected End for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV 1900
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
